Your feathery friends will revel in delight as they move into this scaled reproduction of Miss Florence’s boardinghouse. Made from mahogany by HP Broom Housewright in Hadlyme, this birdhouse has two separate compartments to house two different bird families and a hinged back for cleaning out.

Frank Vincent DuMond (1865-1951)
Oil, 28 x 30 inches. DuMond is known as one of the most influential American teacher-painters of the 20th century and a member of the Lyme Art Colony. He studied at the Art Students League in New York in the 1880s, after which he became an illustrator for New York publications such as New York Daily Graphic, Century, and Harper’s Weekly. After additional study in Paris at the Académie Julian DuMond, he accepted a teaching position at the Art Students League in Lyme. His work can be seen in many Museums throughout the United States, including the Florence Griswold Museum.

Bamyan Tribal Fine Qashqai Rug
This stunning rug, measuring 71 x 104 inches, was hand knotted in northern Afghanistan by Turkmen women using handspun, vegetable dyed wool from Karakul sheep that graze along the slopes of the Hindu Kush. The designs in vibrant reds, blues and greens are based on antique tribal and village rugs.

Intimate Dinner for Eight on the Museum Riverfront
You and seven guests will enjoy passed hors d’oeuvres plus wine and beer donated by Jonathan Edwards Winery and Thimble Islands Brewing Company on the Museum’s veranda at 5pm followed by a private tour of the current exhibition led by a member of the Museum’s curatorial team. At 6pm walk down to the new overlook along the Robert F. Schumann Artist’s Trail where you will take in breathtaking views of the Lieutenant River as you dine on a 3-course meal prepared and catered by Gourmet Galley, the purveyors behind Café Flo. Date to be mutually agreed upon during June 2020, excluding Saturdays.
