Gallery Talk: Courtney Mattison: Underwater Worlds Rise to the Surface

Contemporary artist and ocean advocate, Courtney Mattison makes scientific ideas more accessible through the expressive beauty of her ceramic murals. Join Parsons for a discussion of how Mattison handcrafts intricate and large-scale sculptures inspired by the plight of coral reefs and the human-caused threats they face. Hear about the ways in which Mattison’s works fuse art and science to visualize the effects of climate change, such as coral bleaching caused by warming waters and ocean acidification.

Featuring Jenny Parsons, Assistant Curator.

Free with Museum admission.

Note: Featured artist will not be present at this event.
