Making, Historicizing , and Memorial in American Art

with Jenny Parsons, PhD, Associate Curator

Free with Museum Admission

Join Parsons for a tour of the current exhibition Dreams & Memories focusing on the idea of memory.

Works of art are like time capsules. How do artists participate in capturing memories or complicating them? How does social identity inform notions of nostalgia and historical memory? Parsons will consider these questions through a discussion of works by Robert Vonnoh, Charles Ethan Porter, Thomas Nason, James Daugherty, Mark Dion, and more.

Dreams & Memories is on view October 1, 2022 – May 14, 2023.
