ONLINE LECTURE: Something in the Water: Quilts & Bed Rugs in New London County, 1750 – 1825
February 24 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

with Lynne Z. Bassett, Textile Historian and Guest Curator of New London County Quilts & Bedcovers, 1750-1825
$10 (members $8)
Some of America’s most lauded items of textile folk art were produced in New London County. What were the circumstances in the late Colonial and early Federal periods that fostered such creative talent? Guest curator Bassett will examine the county’s economic and social environment, and the high style European designs that filtered down to Colonial New England and inspired these needlewomen to create their own remarkable regional style.
