The Changing Role of Women in the Garden

July 7, 2016 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

$5.00 – $7.00

Join the Museum’s new Assistant Curator Jenny Parsons for a lecture exploring how the representation of women developed through the late nineteenth and early twentieth century alongside the American garden movement. Drawing on examples featured in The Artist’s Garden exhibition and from the Museum’s collection, this lecture traces the shifting role of women from passive, private objects of beauty to public actors in gardens and urban parks.
