VIRTUAL LECTURE: Currier & Ives and American Print Publishing in the 19th Century
January 5 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
with Robert K. Newman, Researcher, Cataloguer, and President, The Old Print Shop, Inc., New York
$10 (members $8)
Founded in 1898, The Old Print Shop has been collecting, researching, and selling American prints for more than a century, many of which were the prints of Currier & Ives and others. Join print expert Newman for a discussion on American print publishing, especially lithographic publishing in the 19th century. He will highlight these five publishers: The Pendletons (1824-1836), Endicott et al (circa 1830-1896), The Kelloggs et al (1830-1880), Nathaniel Currier – Currier & Ives (1834-1907), and John Buford (1835-1871).
This exhibition is generously supported by the Department of Economic and Community Development, Connecticut Office of the Arts, HSB, The Aeroflex Foundation, and Bouvier Insurance.
Funding for the exhibition catalogue was provided by the Henry Luce Foundation.
