Winner of the 2004 Outstanding Cultural Program Award, Connecticut: Seasons of Light is an hour-long film that celebrates the natural beauty of the landscapes, seasides and pastoral settings that fostered and nurtured the birth of American Impressionism in Connecticut at the turn of the 20th century.
Narrator Brian Dennehy and leading scholars in the field reveal a fascinating and emotional story of the lives of five of the best-known American Impressionists: Childe Hassam, Willard Metcalf, Theodore Robinson, John Twachtman and J. Alden Weir; as well as the beloved Connecticut scenes that inspired an entire American art movement. Works from many of these Connecticut masters are currently on view at the Florence Griswold Museum.
