The Smithsonian’s Archives of American Art has microfilmed some of Edward C. Volkert’s papers, which can be requested for research. Another useful record is the scrapbook of clippings, sketches, and letters that documents Volkert’s career (Private Collection). Subjects include reproductions of his artwork, articles about his exhibitions, excerpts from newspapers about his daughter Ruth Volkert Middleton, and even comic sketches made for his granddaughter. Images of materials from the scrapbook are provided here as fodder for further research on the artist and his time.
