Neighborhood spirits say that you are receiving photos for Wee Faerie Village.
When I was thinking of a theme for this year’s faerie village, my thoughts kept going back to “HOME”. This year nothing has been more important than the shelter of our home, food on the table, love of our family, and helping hands of our teachers, friends and neighbors. In the past when I would think of Halloween, I would associate the holiday with Trick or treating, costumes and sorting a huge bag full of candy but now it’s simply “gratitude” for everything around me. I want to tie the idea of a cozy home, with the gratitude I feel in my heart into this magical faerie fall cottage (The cottages, table, chairs and rocking swing we’re made with thin popsicle sticks. The sailboat was made with a slab of wood and popsicle sticks).

I listed a few the things I’m most grateful for – Family, Grandparents, Friends, Nurses, Doctors, Teachers, Coaches, Food, Clean Air we breath and the Sun in our beautiful sky. Even though the fairy world is many worlds away from us, I think we could all relate to the feeling of gratitude for the things that we cannot live without and cherish the most. I know the shelter will provide a cozy home for faerie and her family to enjoy a simple life here in New England. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did creating it.

This is my “House of Rock” faerie house. My family and I made it together. We built it in the trunk of a 200 year old mulberry tree that came down in a storm.

It’s a house where faeries and pet rocks can live together. At the bottom left corner, there is a small pond (with a pebble frog) and a rock sitting behind it. There’s a tiny clothes line, a swing for birds, a ladder, miniature salads for the rocks and faeries, and a stone path leading up to the stairs.

My name is Winter and I am 7 years old. I attend Lyme Consolidated school and I’ve been visiting your fairy village since I was a baby! I love the fairy village because fairies are my FAVORITE! I have many fairy houses in my room. When I was younger my Grandad or Mommy would build them with me. I built two with Mrs. Newman and Mrs. Bocian the best teachers ever! I collect things to build my fairy houses with and LOVE making crafts.

This fairy house was made from a recycled dishwasher tablet container and an old wooden crate. I painted the crate green and I created this little fairy house with a key to open the door and a jump rope because this house is for a fairy that likes to stay healthy and wants to get her exercise.

We have a fairy at our house that writes me letters sometimes, her name is Sophia. If I win I would build Sophia the BEST fairy house ever with the prize.
