The Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company embodied the spirit of American corporations that support, encourage and preserve art. Beginning with its furniture collection in 1978, the company continued curating a collection of quintessentially Connecticut fine arts and furniture until its dissolution in 2001. Notable artists in this volume include: Childe Hassam, Willard Metcalf, William Chadwick, Matilda Browne, Henry Ward Ranger, Frederic Church, and Thomas Cole. Selected pieces from The Hartford Steam Boiler Collection are currently on display at the Florence Griswold Museum.
