Museum Manners
- The Museum will be closed December 24 & 25 for the holiday.
1.
Help the Museum protect the collection by not touching the works of art or furniture. Even the cleanest hands leave fingerprints that can leave oils, salts, and acids that can damage these delicate surfaces. Please stand at least a foot or more away from museum objects.
2.
Respect your fellow students and the other people visiting the Museum by using indoor voices. The historic rooms and museum galleries can get noisy if too many people are talking loudly at the same time.
3.
Raise your hand when you have a question or comment rather than shouting out. This allows everyone to get the chance to be heard.
4.
Finish all food and drink (including water bottles) before entering the historic rooms or museum galleries to avoid stains and spills. We want to avoid crumbs that might attract bugs and mice.
5.
Save all gum and candy for after your visit.
6.
Run and jump outside, but not inside the historic rooms or museum galleries. This will help keep you and the museum objects safe.
7.
Please take as many pictures as you’d like while outdoors, in the Education Center, or in the Florence Griswold House. Taking pictures is not allowed in the museum galleries. This includes photography with a cell phone, digital camera, or video camera.
8.
Please use a pencil to take notes, sketch, or write in your journal. Ink pens are not allowed in the historic rooms or museum galleries.
9.
Please silence your electronic devices during your visit to the historic rooms and museum galleries.
10.
Stay with your group to avoid getting lost. During your visit, student groups will move between the historic rooms, the museum galleries, the education center, and gardens and grounds.
