Offered concurrently with the exhibition Impressionism 150: From Paris to Connecticut & Beyond, Wright’s master class coaches artists—from beginners to advanced—to find their creative voice. Through lectures and step-by-step demonstrations, Wright fosters artists to discover their own signature style of Impressionism. The workshop features an introductory history, foundational philosophy, and key principles of Impressionism. Students will paint “en plein air,” alongside Wright on the same site of the original Lyme Art Colony artists.

Wright is an inspirational and compassionate teacher with a half of century of experience teaching professionals, art teachers, emerging artists, and creatives of all levels. Students will have access to a digital version of Wright’s workbook: How to Be an Impressionist Painter.

Students will need to supply their own artist journal, a drawing marker and pencils, a drawing pad, and a selection of media choice such as oil, acrylics, or pastels. For creature comforts, please bring a good sun/rain hat, comfortable shoes, bug spray, liquids for hydration, a portable easel, and stool.
