EVENT: Iron Toys: The Mechanical Banks of Cromwell, CT

December 22 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

with Richard F. Donohue, Historian for Town of Cromwell

Free with Museum Admission

Join Donohue as he demonstrates his collection of banks and explains the history and amusing tales that inspired their design. Manufactured in Connecticut between the Civil War and World War One, mechanical toy banks perform an action when coins are deposited in them.  From historical figures to a menagerie of critters, the banks offer a glimpse into the interest and pastimes of yesteryear.
