VIRTUAL LECTURE: The Mother of Creativity: Women Artists as Caregivers
May 9 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
with Hall W. Rockefeller, Art Critic and Writer
$12 (Members 10% discount)
In honor of Mother’s Day, join Rockefeller, art writer and expert on women artists in an exploration of the trials and triumphs of being an artist-mother, with stories from Renaissance Italy to the contemporary moment. Motherhood has been long held by (largely male) art critics and historians to be the “enemy of good art”. After all, how could creativity be summoned by a body who uses all its creative force in pregnancy? Of course, these retroactive and harmful ideas couldn’t be farther from the complex truth.
